Cash on delivery payment vs card payment
Posted by AUGUSTIN FALIBOGA
Online card payment is a modern, up-to-date, clean and transparent payment. Payment upon receipt of the package, cash to the courier, continues to exist.
Here are some reasons for and against, collected from social media.
In general, individual customers pay... | ||

...by cash on delivery because: |
Our observations |
1. trust the supplier store | 1. they are slightly distrustful | It is mandatory to learn to know your supplier. You will only use their products or services in the long term. |
2. I receive the product faster | 2. the store and the courier are a block of services, it doesn't matter who is late, the penalty is refusal of receipt | It is difficult to promise a fixed deadline to reach the customer. After years of experience, you will be able to be precise in your promises. |
3. the courier takes more care of their package | 3. they fear that the product is hit, scratched - this is not the case with us | Courier is a tough job. Business works if the whole system from top to bottom strives daily. You've got where to choose from. |
4. they found out about the delivery times from the comments on FB or on the store's website | 4. I receive the product later than the one paid in advance at large and small stores 4.1. I receive the product faster 4.2. they fear that the product is not in stock 4.3. the partners of the big platforms of marketplace they usually delay deliveries, so they got used to cash on delivery payment |
Information is power. If you take it into account, you can survive. I didn't say it makes you rich. |
5. the card payment option makes a store more credible | 5. I only pay for what I see or touch... | Mistrust eats away at any foundation. |
6. they are used to online payments | 6. they don't want to block your money in case they change their mind | We are in the first generation of online buyers. I was still learning. |
7. it's harder to give up orders | 7. sometimes they can refuse more easily and not pick up the product if they change their mind | Any refusal or return increases the costs of an online business. The costs are unprofitable. A refusal costs us at least 2 shipments, packaging, labor. A return means a 50% loss of the product price; that's the law, biased. |
8. he does not have to look for cash in his pockets when the courier knocks on the door | 8. this is my first order or interaction with the store, I don't know the supplier | We each try to have the least stress. |
9. wait for the product accepting the promised delivery times | 9. they are in a hurry, they want today. Tomorrow they no longer need that product. | Patience has its limits, do not abuse it, it is unprofitable. |
10. it's more civilized and clean that way | 10. considers that courier carriers prioritize deliveries in favor of reimbursement and therefore of a small fee | We were hoping for a clean world, without strings, without cash and without thieves. |
These were the personal opinions of some buyers from the wider world; not so wide, from Romania. In the table, under observations, are our summary opinions.
…. and lastly
Judge with patience and discernment the legends below:
"Cash is the King"
"For household appliances, mattresses, gaming, PC components, cases, always cash. Why? To receive the item undamaged, clean, packaging ok. Detergents, cosmetics, books, clothes – card.”
"Big stores, card. Small shops, cash on delivery."
"... with money given and goods not received..."
"The store steals the money from my card."
Conclusions. Regardless of how you pay us, we:
- We respect the promised delivery time regardless of the payment method.
- We clearly appreciate the method of payment by card, we consider the cash-on-delivery payment to be "moral".
- We maintain and develop a healthy, transparent online trade.
- We keep close contact with our clients throughout the collaboration.
